DevDay in Sri Lanka

After joining AWS it has been some busy days, and it was great to get some days off and visit Sri Lanka. I always enjoyed coming to Sri Lanka, and this time was no different. I was fortunate enough to be joined by my youngest daughter Camilla, and we both had a great time.

My session was about Infrastructure as code, and the room was full. I enjoyed, and I hope the audience did too. After the presentation, there were some excellent discussions, and it is delightful to see that people are starting to pick up on those practices.

The next day we had a breakfast session with ICT Norway and SLASSCOM. Interesting perspectives and glad to see the great collaboration happening between Norway and Sri Lanka. In so many ways we are similar. We also got to visit the local startup scene at StartupXFoundry as well as the fantastic makerspace for kids, IgniteSpace.

It is interesting to see the changes in Colombo since I first visited some years back. The city is growing and progressing, but also the ICT industry in the country keep impressing me. They still keep their hearth in what they are doing, and the quality delivered from Sri Lanka is exceptional. Add to that the genuinely warm and welcoming people, I can’t wait to be back.
